Two Oxbridge pairings faced off against each other, and the rest of the country, over the weekend at the Second GB Winter Assessment Trials in Boston, Lincolnshire. The Cambridge pair of President George Nash and Rowan Lawson came out on top, racing strongly to secure 2nd place overall. 2012 Oxford President Karl Hudspith raced with fellow Dark Blue trialist Paul Bennett to 6th place.
Also securing Top 10 placings were several Boat Race alumni. Dark Blue Andrew Triggs-Hodge won the pairs event overall with partner Mo Sbihi. Light Blues Tom Ransley and Fred Gill (and their parters) finished 3rd and 8th respectively.
Sunday marked just 7 weeks to go until The 2013 BNY Mellon Boat Race, so George, Rowan, Karl and Paul will now all be turning their attention back to Blue Boat selection and Race-day preparation – starting with the fixtures that each team has this coming weekend on the Tideway. CUBC will be racing against the University of Washington on Saturday, and OUBC will face the University of London on Sunday.
The 2013 BNY Mellon Boat Race will take place on Sunday 31st March at 4:30pm.
